Dishwater cramps. When it's time to do dishes. Run into the bathroom and slam the door until the dishes are done. Worked for my kids! lol

A good dish washing deterrent is not getting the food off the dishes when you do them. This way the other people in your house won't ask you to do them anymore. It's what my brother did when we were kids.

I find Dawn is the best for cutting through grease but if you want something better smelling try the new Palmolive scents. They come in citrus, vanilla, and a few others. No since hating the smell of a chore you have to do everyday.

A good deterrent is like prevention being better than the cure.
Just use recycled paper plates!

Just about anything is a deterrent, TV, internet, a nap, etc. Who enjoys washing dishes? I'll find any excuse not to do them.
If you meant detergent, I don't know.

We've been around the block with dishwashing detergents at my house, as we had a huge problem with spotty glass.
Firstly, I'd recommend cleaning out your dishwasher about every three months or so, depending on how hard your water is.
Secondly, we have had great luck with the cascade gel. (It comes in a green bottle with an orange lid.)
The biggest problem, though, was that the washer was dirty.
