I come in to work everyday , do my work, and do it well, but I dont care. I see other people here, and they care so much about the job ,talking about it etc. At lunch, I want to talk about ANYTHING else, but it usually reverts to the job. I dont find the job very easy ,or very tough, and Ive got praise from my manager etc, but I simply do not care. Thing is, I was like this in my last job. They asked me to stay even , but I wouldnt. Whats wrong with me that i cannot be just happy with a job, that i dont have to turn off everyday while in it.

You are too intelligent for the jobs you are doing. Either put up with it if the job is easy, or work toward a more fulfilling job.

It doesn't sound like you're unhappy.

In many situations, it's GOOD that you don't care about the job especially if you work hard and do good work.

Job situations being what they are these days, you'll only get hurt if you care too much about work.

Have you ever watched "Office Space" the movie (stars Ron Livingston and Jennifer Aniston)? It might give you insights into the benefits of not caring about work.

On the other hand, do you care that you want to find your passion in life? If so, I'd suggest you get a copy of "What Color is Your Parachute?" by Richard Bolles to get yourself started. Or even "What Should I do with my Life?" by Po Bronson.

Majority of the people in the world HATE their jobs but they do it because they need the income. If you find that you can do the work and not care, it doesn't sound like a bad place to be. You can then spend your energy having a LIFE.

Good luck to you, man!

Sounds like you are just going through the motions to get paid, but work is also about passion and enjoyment. Obviously, you haven't found what your passion is yet, or else you would be more interested. You are not yet doing what you were put on the planet to do, but at least you are working and earning income. Perhaps you are also a little depressed, which can occur when you are not doing what you were created to do. If you are depressed, maybe addressing it will help you to be in a better mood so you can explore other ideas for work that are meant for you.
