The movie is a classic, it is about this interracial girl who looks more white. Her mother is a black lady very dark skinned. The girl wants all the oppurtunities that white people have so she disowns her mother after her boyfriend found out she was mixed. she went away not to have anything else to do with her mother till one day she hears her mom died. she breaks down and at the fumeral her mom is drawn by white horses. thats really all i remember. Please anyone remember it and the name? I last saw it at least 20 years ago.

Yes it is Imitation of Life (1959), by a master of melodrama: Douglas Sirck. Yes, it could be a very moving picture, and indeed, there are sequences very deep. Melodrama works by adding misfortune after misfortune, so that kind of genre is very delicate and hard to do cause the lighter error can drive to hilarity. But I agree Sirck is a master.

Could it be Pinky? I never saw the end of that one, but I think she was a nurse passing for white, and her fiance was a doctor.
