I have cable internet provided by Time Warner (Roadrunner) and they tell me they upgraded to 7mb download speed. I have never seen download speeds close to 7mb, not even 1mb. Why do I not get 7mb download speed, even though they advertise it like it's a big deal? I'm pretty handy with computers so you can answer me with a technical answer. I've heard some answers but they seem to be excuses rather than reasons. Can anyone clarify where my 7mb/s really go?

You are handy with computers but you arent handy with consumer tactics. If you read your contract will road runner i am pretty sure they will have something like *7Mb tested, or at some speeds, speeds may vary, or depends on area and location, and such like that. 7 MB is basically the HIGHEST speed theyve tested on, not necessarly always haveing 7mb, but the peak speed of the connect is 7mb. peaches and cream, you know what i mean? and also...where your downloading from depends too.....the recieving end may have a good speed, but the giving end is slow. thats another possibility.
