My 17 year old cousin has just given birth... she was going to give baby up for adoption but now has decided last minute to let the baby live with the father's family and remain in his life. My aunt was not expecting this at all and is beside herself. anyone have any advice on a good book that could help her to cope and deal with having a baby with a baby?

The only book I can come up with off the top of my head is "Who moved the cheese?" It sounds silly but it's actually really good. It helps people see that change isnt always bad and is sometimes necessary.

What to expect the first year is a good book for any new mom. As far as the age situation I would recommend seeing a family counselor to help the two families come together and give the baby the best of both worlds

No book can give good advice on a subject like this. Being a good parent to your child should come naturally. She just needs to accept the facts, face the consequences that sex has led her to and be the best mother of her ability to her child, if she was old enough to lay in a bed and have sex then she is old enough to take on the responsibilities of being a mother...there is no easy way out.

I think a book is too little to be of help in this situation. I would recommend counseling.

I was so paranoid that my daughter might bring home an early 'present' that I promised to go right out, get pregnant and have a baby to leave with HER if she even THOUGHT about having a baby while underage.

I don't know if she thought I was serious, but she didn't do it. I certainly understand how wretched that girl's mom feels.
