Stress, change in diet, pregnancy or birth control can all be causes of a stop or change in your menstrual cycle. I would advise that you see a doctor as soon as possible to rule out any serious conditions, including pregnancy.

Well, if you have missed your period this long I am hoping you checked for pregnancy if you are sexually active.
Other than that there are so many things that can contribute to the lateness of your period.
For me, I was in the military and constantly under stress and PT (workout) every morning.
This caused my menstrual cycle to never be on tract. I was always late. I knew how to make my period not come around when I didnt want it to. haha. So funny. So I basically could control when I got it. I would just workout more for the amount of days more I wanted it to be delayed. It's kinda weird, but sure helped me out a lot.
So basically, pregnancy, stress, working out, etc.

it depends , how old are you? When you are just starting your cycles they tend to be not consistent. this happend to me. If you just stopped and noticed anything unusual in your body, you know what i am going to say already, go to doc

If you have had sex, you might be pregnant. If you haven't had sex, you have a hormonal imbalance. You need to see your OB/GYN.
