When I was younger, 20ish, I went into a place with my sister. I am not the shopping type and only went in because she wanted me too.
Anyhoo the people did this to me. I was quite shocked, like you I have never stolen nor even accused of stealing anything.
I spoke to my sister about it and she put a stop to it asap!
My sister asked for the management and asked them what they thought they were doing. If they wanted her money they will quit following me around. She also reminded to them of how much money she spends in the place and how much her friends spend in the place.
They stopped following me around, but all I wanted to do was leave. It was one of those jewelry and home furnishing places in Eugene Oregon on West 11TH Street. It was a huge store then, bet they are not in business anymore, would not surprise me! Never will I go there again! Do not live over there anymore so I bet I wont lol!

The same thing happens to my 17 year old son. He wears dark clothes, is under the age of 25, and has a wallet chain that looks like it came off a motorcycle. He was really hurt by the profiling until I had him go into the same store in a pair of Dockers and a polo. They watched him less, but they still watched him- because he couldn't fix the fact that he was still under the age of 25. Stores have to keep an eye on the people that are in the groups that statistically steal the most. Catching thieves is how they keep their business profitable. It's unfortunate, but a fact of life.

If it only happened one time, who knows, you could have looked like someone they had a problem with, or she could have been having a bad day.
The next time it happens, just very calmly look at the sales person who is following you and ask "Can I help you with something?" By not being afraid to talk to them, they will probably back off. I
f they are rude or aggressive about following you, ask to see a manager. Then calmly and politely tell the manager that you are concerned about the customer service you are receiving and ask if they can talk to the associate.
If it happens frequently you may want to got the the cashier when you come in and ask them to hold any shopping bags from other stores. Then they will see you have nothing to hide.

I get the same thing quite a lot, not all the time but most of the time... i don't wear make-up or try to dress to impress and i shop on my own, they treat people like particurly suspiciously which i hate... it's very judgemental, especially if your like me and you like to assess what your buying and give it more thought, i've had workers even just stop on the way to the back room near the cash registers just to stare, most of the time i just ignore it but sometimes i just look up at them and smile, i just let them stare for a good minuite though before i look up and smile, it kind of startles them because it's obvious you then knew they were looking the whole time, it's funny aha xD.

Did you give them any reason to suspect that you might steal?, Did you have an incident in the past at this store? Sometimes if you look out of place or you look around a lot and look like you may steal, then they will do that, but if you did nothing then they are in the wrong.

i comprehend the sensation. It places a marvelous type of shoppers off going into specific shops. I say issues like "i'm sorry, yet you're making me experience uncomfortable. I spend money right here, is there a concern?" Or I stare back on the assistants, smile and ask in the event that they comprehend me." you ought to constantly ask to be certain the executive and clarify why you experience such as you're being careworn. while my sis moved to Spain and that i first went to pass to, we went to 3 small shops and my sis instructed me to open my bag and tutor the assistant. it form of feels it incredibly is common practice for any travellers to that section, even nevertheless they are no longer getting a marvelous type of visitors. i became horrified, even nevertheless I had no longer something to conceal. only looks like some people are objectives and such as you, it extremely annoys me.

I have had that to happen. What I did was calmly walked over and asked to speak to the manager. I informed them that I was a hard working individual that do not steal, and if they feel that I would be the type of person to steal, then I can take my business elsewhere.

I guess you haven't realized the class thing yet. I have cash coming out of places I wont detail. I am also a unbelieveable slob, old hoodies and kirkland jeans suit me fine. I get people watching me all the time thinking that i'm a thief. I play it just for fun.

Turn around and tell her this is a stick up then start laughing. I would tell you just to make light of the situation. It has happend to everyone. If it happens on a regular basis you might wont to change clothing style or hair style. I would just tell you to brush it off.

keep picking up things and ask how much they are.
Ask her to smell if you have bad breath.
Let one go, an SBD, and say, "Do you smell something burning?"
Go to the end of the store, and ask her how much something is on the other side of the store.
Ask her if you have B.O.
test some funky smelling perfume and ask her to see if you smell pretty.
Tell her she has a mark on her face, she better go check, or tell her there is a spider in her hair. Keep her busy with stupid stuff!
