Go to control panel, click system, then hardware then device manager, click display, and then select your video, update driver. (remember what its called). cuz if it dont find a update for it search driverguide.com and your operating system, XP home, or pro. save the file somewhere, and try to install it. if it still dont solve the problem, go back to the control panel and uninstall what you just installed, go back to the device manager, and the video driver, and uninstall it. reboot. windows should find the driver automatically when it boots. If the problem is still not solved, try installing the drivers from driver guide again.

You will need to find out which video card you specifically have installed for hardware since windows xp supports a wide variety of graphics cards.

From your description of the ripples I would suspect though that it may perhaps be a monitor issue and not a video card issue.

Your best bet would be to go into system information it will tell you all about what is installed in windows xp.You will find it in programs when you click on the start then scroll to accessories then go to system info. that should tell you what you need to know, If you are still having problems then go into Microsoft Interactive Training and watch the tour. You can always contact Microsoft, With no problem. This should help that,s why its installed on your computer. If you still have problems my email is available. OK

Windows XP is not the thing you need to know what graphics card to use. It is your computers mother board which has to have the correct equipment to allow for a graphics card.

You need to find out what sockets your motherboard has. AGP card sockets, PCI sockets, and the newer PCI video graphic cards require newest computers.

Right click on "My Computer" and click on "Properties"
a new windows would open... click on the "Advanced" tab.

Click on "Settings" under "Performance"
another window should open... under "Visual Effects" click on
"Adjust for best performance" and click Apply.

That should fix the ripples.

but it would also disable your Visual Styles and XP Themes.
If you want them back.. just scroll down and check the last option "Use Visual styles on windows and buttons".

Regards,
