Give me examples that will make people read my essay and will make people think long and hard about global warming and all its horrible side effects.

What will make peoples emotions appeal to my essay?

At the risk of being chopped in the head and heart by all the people who hate Al Gore, I direct you to watch the DVD "An Inconvenient Truth". It has all that you are looking for. You can rent it at Blockbuster.

Not everyone agrees with global warming. Not everyone likes Al Gore. However, you asked so I am telling.

I showed this to my classes three weeks ago and every single student was attentive (a first in 18 years of teaching). So, I guess if you want to appeal to "emotions" this will do it!

Stehpani - we do not know the 'real hard truth' about the global warming THEORY. Like most theories, it does not explain lots of scientific evidence that conflicts with it.

You might have a more interesting, and scientifically valid, discussion if you focus on the inadequacies in the global warming mania.

I'm not sure appealing to emotion is productive. I think discussing the scientific data would be more effective. Lots of data here:

But two things may hit home, and they're true.

It will cost rich countries huge sums of money to deal with the effects of global warming. They'll have to move people away from low lying coastal areas and replace things lost to flooding. They'll have to relocate crops and build new irrigation systems, to cope with changing weather patterns.

Poor countries already struggling to feed themselves will find it impossible to fully repair the damage to their agriculture. Many people, but not all, will die of starvation.

You could appeal to their common sense and realit.........no wait.......that will invalidate your essay. You could say how real it i............no, that would be a bald faced lie. You could suggest how we could stop or change or del...a.....y,.....no, you can't really do any of those things either.
Just tell them the truth. It's just something we all have to accept and learn to live with. We can't change, control or "fix" nature. People, money, worrying, clucking, thinking about it, junk science, or real science can do nothing about it.
