Some people never seem to be happy. Their own doing, or is that just reality?

this answer sucks but it foots the bill; for me anyway. I think if you think about these people, they are also the ones who are just a little bit smarter than most. You've heard the saying"ignorance is bliss" well, that is very true. Because like the first guy said, look around you. If you can come up with one thing to be happy and hopeful about, I'll eat your hat. Mountains and God's green Earth excluded here, because this is the very thing we can watch being destroyed every day.
Me. I'm cynical as hell, and there are lots of days I wish I was stupid so I wouldn't be so aware of the absolute horrors that people inflict on themselves, each other, and everything around them every day.

Hamsters have given me some insight into this question...
A few years ago, my girlfriend (now my wife) gave me two hamsters as a Christmas gift. Very unexpected, but very cute. They were both baby hamsters, maybe a few weeks old. One of them was very gentle and would eat / lick food from my hand. The other would also eat /lick food from my hand, but it was usually the flesh and blood from my hand - if I was unwise enough to get within striking range.
Same species, same age, same hamster litter... People have the capacity for change,but some people are the way they are, because that's the way they are.

It always comes down to contentment and satisfaction. When one isn't contented or satisfied it is difficult to be happy. Trying to appreciate the good things that happen to you and around you makes you realize that life is worth living.

Everyone asks me whats wrong,
but the fact is im not going to go around smiling if there is nothing to be happy about

The people that see the big picture have no recourse....they have to be sad...only the delusional can be happy.

Because they're depressed? Or they're just sad because they know that the world was too boring to begin with. They think the world has nothing to offer to them.

Their own doing. Nobody can make you feel that way unless you allow it. We all control our own emotions.
