This one is a tough one. There were 2 groups out in the 90's and I cannot remember their names. Both groups played rock & both groups had 1 black guy in the group & the rest where white I believe. Both groups had several hits & I cannot remember any of their songs. One of the groups the black guy had really long hair that he kept braided. Thanks for your help !

Hootie & the Blowfish and maybe Counting Crows. Sevendust came out in 1999, so possibly them too.

Counting Crows might be the band with the guy with braided hair, but I think he was white or maybe of mixed race. The other one is probably Hootie and the Blowfish.

Sounds like the one with braids is Sevendust, one of my favorite bands, I don't know the other band you are talking about.
