I already knit, paint and quilt, but don't find them rewarding. I would like to learn something that is sorta unique, or even historical that not many people do anymore........ any ideas?

I would think you would like Calligraphy. This is something that is a lost art and I have used it for wedding invitations, making my own cards and so on. You can find many books about this in your library, on line or bookstores. The prices for calligraphy sets are quite low but others are real steel heads with dipping ink and not just flowing ink from the barrel. And you have all the time to create and work at samples to your hearts content. Chinese calligraphy, Celtic calligraphy, Egyptian calligraphy and many more are out there to explore.
One way to see such historical calligraphic documents is to go to your local museum, local college (historical department) or antique shops/dealers that deal in documents that are from the late 1800's and the 1900's. I am always astounded by the beautiful "hand writing" that was present back in those days.
Best of luck to you and hope you take up a few pens in the future.

I don't know how many people do it anymore, but you could try quilling. It dates back centuries from what I've read. I was at hobby lobby & they had a starter kit but not a whole lot else, so I bought it & it was pretty fun. It's basically rolling these tiny thin strips of paper into shapes & making cards & what not out of it. There's a website where you can learn more about it : www.quilling.com . The websites & web searches are the only places I've really found to find more supplies & information. Haven't found much of anything in stores other than that beginner's kit.
