My husbands snoring really is ruining our marriage. i am not getting sleep in fact i am getting physically ill from not getting enough rest. I know there is a procedure that docs can do where they put the little plastic things in the throat to hold the flap up that makes all the noise but insurance will not cover it and he is too cheap to pay the $3000 or even make payments on it. (we can afford it) Anything else you know of that helps? Even a combo of things....anything would help! I cannot wear earplugs either cause I have tinnitus and need to be able to hear my fan to drown out the ringing on my ears and the one time i did try ear plugs I could still hear him. Yes, he really is that loud!

I deal with snoring for a living. best thing to do is request to your doctor that your husband has a sleep study. If it is found that his snoring causes issues they will put him on a machine (cpap or bipap machine) that opens the airway and he will no longer snore and it kind of sounds like fan so it's a plus for u too! and most of the time insurance covers it since it's a medical device!

Well for starters, you don't have to have surgery for sleep apnea. I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine every night. My husband told me that I would snore and stop breathing for a few seconds at a time. Has your friend noticed her boyfriend stop breathing during his sleep at all? I think he needs to go through a sleep test to see if he has sleep apnea as this can cause excessive snoring. Also being overweight can cause snoring as well...which if her boyfriend is overweight, then perhaps losing weight he will not snore as much. At any rate, I would suggest to your friend for her boyfriend to have a sleep test done to see if he has sleep apnea and go from there. Good luck to your friend and her boyfriend.

Hi

There are many natural and herbal remedies to put an end to snoring. These can be as simple as weight loss or stopping smoking, or there are herbal supplements you can take to ease snoring.

Although I have much more sympathy regarding your tinnitus.........

"Injection snoreplasty is a nonsurgical treatment for snoring that involves the injection of a hardening agent into the upper palate."

But DO make sure they inject this in the correct place; otherwise, you'll be up all night anyway, wrestling and coochey-cooing with him.
