ok today when i turned my car to go to work it started to shake like if it wanted to turn off it went for about 6 seconds and then the check engine light started to blink like about 3 times then i cut the power and turn it on again same thing but no blinking check engine light what could this problem be?? i have the check engine light on now and ran the codes but it never blinked b4 can u guys help me out?? thanks

You don't tell us what kind of car, but it is clearly newer than 1996.
The shaking you experienced was an engine misfire. The fact that the "Check Engine" light was blinking is an indication that the engine is introducing raw fuel into the catalytic converter. This can damage the converter beyond recovery if you continue to drive it in this condition.
Most likely all you need do is perform a tune-up (Plugs, perhaps wires, cap & rotor). You may also have a coil pack failing, or even water or oil in the spark plug wells. Simple to check and not teribly expensive, relatively speaking.

Maybe a problem with air flow in the engine...a leak in a hose, or an O2 sensor or EGR valve going out, or even something as simple as having a dirty air filter.

naw , everybody is wrong , perform an exorcism , it's possessed : ) sorry not enough sleep , we can't help without info like make , model , engine size , etc . but the first response sounds the best to me . get it checked out soon .

Sounds as if it's out of time. Need to have someone check timing. Also check air filter, and gas filter.

You aren't going to get the codes checked here. It might have to be towed to the garage.
