First I am making the assumption that he is married to one of the friends... if not, then definately steer clear of the situation
He has made his choice, and if he wants both of you and he isn't married to either of you, that makes for some very intersting fantasies.
Time and time again when married couples bring in a third person, it ends badly, often in divorce. There are very few truly open marriages, or couples that swap. If this couple is, then you might consider talking with your friend about it he/she is aware of the attraction the married person has for the both of you. If they don't then stay away.
It will ruin your long term friendship, the marriage will suffer... but there is no harm in thinking about it... I would think you would be flattered or tempted, or you wouldn't have asked the question in the way that you did. So keep with the fantasy, and the friendship.
