Can I change my old verizon cell phone to tracfone?

I already have tracfones but someone told me that by 1/1/2007 you could change any cell phone to the provider that you wish. Anyone out there know if this is true, please let me know. I went out and bought new verizon cell phones about two years ago and all the accessories and got stuck with them, or at least untill now. Surely since my verizon cells are so nice I can reuse them with my tracfone minutes being able to switch is the question though.

I found out the answer by calling Tracfone main office. You were right it can't be done.

TracPhone uses GSM, while your Verizon Wireless phones are CDMA phones. No can do there.

You can't. You MUST have a phone directly from the company for it to work.
