Any Holy Place including the Cemetary is supposed to however we traditionally see vampires inhabiting crypts and other mausoleum type locations. As noted above, Garlic will repel them, and they seem to have a th sense to detect it in food,, or other locations, depending on whose versions of vampires you believe in.Steel on the eyes was believed to prevent vamipirsm from taking hold of a corpse at all in some religious/cultural beliefs. I have never heard of an excorcism killing, partly due to no vampire willing to wait for the time it takes, and if a hunter were to incapacitate, its faster to drive a stake through the heart.

Drain them of all thier blood, will kill them. contrary to popular belief, some vampires are believed to be not truly immortal but have absurdly long lives, so long in fact that they appear to never age, tho they would have a lifespan of like 1000 or 2000 years depending on when they turned.

Sunlight is the biggest one that seems to be a 100% across the board kill. Then there is the method shown in queen of the damned, and a few other more obscure older vampire movies, removing the Original Vampire's heart and cutting int into 4 or more pieces, some also say that taking the heart of any vampire and doing this will kill any other vampires descended from(created or turned by) him.

Hope that helps.

Common wards include garlic cloves (both eaten and hung around the house or on the body), silver (is poisonous to them), and a crucifix. Trick with the crucifix is, the person holding it actually HAS to have faith in Christ. It is the faith combined with the sight of the crucifix that reminds the vamp that its "ressurection" is bogus. Holy water will burn the vamp's skin, and will incinerate the beast if it is taken internally. They avoid fire, and cannot cross water without help.

According to legend, a vampire cannot enter your residence without the permission of one of the residents of the house. A visitor won't work; it has to be a family member.

Common ways to kill a vampire include a stake through the heart, decapitation, and sunlight.

Crucifix will ward a vampire if presented strongly.
Runnig water (river/stream) will incapacitate (some say kill) a vampire.
They dislike Garlic, but it doesn't seem to hurt them (my wife doesn't like garlic either....I wonder....)
Decapitation and stuffing the mouth with the Eucharist will kill a vampire.
A wooden stake driven through the heart will kill the vampire.
Sunlight does not KILL them, it simply weakens them, and they dislike it intensely.
Placing pieces of the Eucharist within a vampire's coffin (or burial dirt) will prevent him/her from using that particular resting place (although he will likely have others you don't know about).

I have not heard some of those!
They don't like silver, Wolfs bane, garlic, anything holy. They cannot enter a house unless invited, They will stop and count rose seeds and cannot stop until they are all counted (Yes like the Sesame ST count!), I think you need to mix your urine with the grave dirt to eat it. They cannot use their powers to pass over running water. The vampire should have it's heart staked (wood or metal is fine - iron is more usual) have the heart cut out and burnt, the mouth filled with holy wafers and garlic, decapitated - the buried upside down at the cross roads. They cannot rest within earshot of church bells as the noise will drive them to the surface...
There are MANY more and they vary between countries...

ok, this is goning to sound funny, but there ARE tales that if you spread poppy seeds on the roof of your house, the vampire will stop to count each and every one of them before going inside. The sun will probably come up by then and the vampire will leave. Believe it or not, this is the background information on why Sesame Street chose the "Count" to look like a vampire as well! LoL...

decapitation is one of the less heard of. Just cut off the head and bury it more than 50 ft from the corpse...

Did anyone mention sunlight...

Fire is also supposed to be one of the major drawbacks to a DND vampire

Crossing moving water such as a river or stream is supposed to remove the imortal soul from the threads of the undead beasts body allowing it to rest eternally...

Pointy timber in the heart is supposed to produce a sleep state...

having the vampire drink the blood of another vampire is supposed to make them become attached and the more it is done the more attached they become...

the bite of a werewolf in some movies...

if you get some of the vamps blood you could make a voodoo dollie and cause allot of pain...

you could ask a djinn to obliterate it for you...
