I don't know if I was drunk, half-sleep, or just plain dreaming- but the movie involved a battle scene at the beginning and end (I believe). I think it had something to do with vampires. I can barely remember the movie, but scenes keep popping in my head.
I do remember there were people buying blood on the black market and some kind of dark world and light world (I think). I have no idea where I saw, when I saw, or why I watching something so crazy. I would love to give more detail, but that's about all I can remember. If this movie actually exist, an internet source where I can find or watch it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I think some of the characters had the ability to turn into animals/insects or something.

Night Watch. It's Russian but you should be able to get it at any video store since it came out within the last year and it's was a fairly big release. Apparently it's the first film to come out of Russia since the communists started regulating film production.
