I answered a question on insomnia a little while back. The link is below.
Further, you could try taking about 1000 mg of Calcium with about 200 - 300 mg of vitamin B1 to help you sleep.
Alternatively, you could have a mug of Chai tea (the syrup one is best) made with warm milk. Im nodding off in about 20 minutes. :)

I have heard that melatonin will help. Also the herb valerian, although I have never tried either of them. Some people say chamomille tea is good as well. I've experienced insomnia myself in the past and it is so frustrating. I hope you can find something that works for you!

Try valerian. You can get it at your local chemist, without a prescription (just like getting vitamin C and any other vitamin). It's totally natural and helps me overcome insomnia when I have it. Your chemist will probably be able to help you.
As for drug therapy if the valerian doesn't work, your GP will probably prescribe a very low dose of Temazepam (a drug that doctors use to help the patient relax prior to surgery).

A little tea mix I found on the shelf of teas has chamomile. If you see a picture of a bear with a night cap and gown, snoring sleepily, on the box, that's the one I used.

Chamomile tea.
Try using essential oils - some are soothing and relaxing. Lavender's my favourite! I used to grow a bush of it and a whiff of it smelt so relaxing
