Windows Task Manager provides information about computer performance and displays details about programs and processes running on your computer. If you are connected to a network, you can also view network status and see at a glance how your network is functioning. Depending on your work environment and whether you share your computer with other users, you can view additional information about those users. Using Windows Task Manager, you can also end programs or processes, start programs, and view a dynamic display of your computer's performance.
To open Windows Task Manager, right-click an empty space on the taskbar, and then click Task Manager.
For information about using Windows Task Manager, click the Help menu in Windows Task Manager.

Task Manager is a window that tells you what Applications are currently running on your computer. It also has tabs for Processes, Performance, Networking, and Users. You can access it by clicking the "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" keys - hold down "Ctrl-Alt" at the same time, then hit the "Delete" key. (Clicking them a second time will restart your computer.) This brings up Task Manager. There is a "Help" key to walk you through what you don't know.
Good Luck!

it is a software which controls the amount of programs u are working on. there are 34 ways of opening it :
1. press ctrl+alt+delete same time
2. start - run - type tskmgr.exe
3. right click on taskbar- select task manager
it also helps u to end programs that cause ur computer to hang for a long time.
to end a program :
1 open task manager
2. select applications tab
3. select the program that is not responding and click end task.
it will ask you to confirm it if you want then u can cancel also.
IF IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO END TASK,
1. OPEN TASK MANAGER
2. SELECT PROCESSES TAB
3. SELECT DUMPREP.EXE AND END TASK OR IF YOU KNOW THE PROCESS NAME THEN NO NEED FOR APPLICATIONS TAB STRAIGHTLY SELECT THE PROCESS AND END THE PROCESS BUT ONLY UNDER THE "ADMINISTRATOR" USER NOT SYSTEM.
if u end a system process, the computer will shutdown itself in 30 or 60 seconds and u have to hurry in saving ur work

The Windows Task Manager is a program that shows all the different programs that are currently running on your computer. The simplest way to get to it is to press CTRL-ALT-Delete. You can also click Start, choose Run... and enter TASKMGR in the run box. See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Task_Manager

Right click on the task bar (the blue bar below) and select Task Manager. In regards to your last question, select processes. You can end any processes by right-clicking and selecting "end process", but I suggest you don't do that with any of the ones that say "SYSTEM", "Local Service", or "Network Service", and don't close "Explorer".
