I know how to do the complex ones...but I can't seem to figure out the simple ones!

okay I am suppose to simplify this:

(x/2)/4

and also:

(x/8)/(x/4)

if anyone has any clue to how to work these out please help me!

(x/2)/4 = x/8

(x/8)/(x/4) = 1/2

tip: remember to switch the second term because your dividing

On the first one, remember that 4 is over a 1, so your LCD is 2, multiply the numerator and denominator by 2, and you are left with x/8.

On the next, do the same. LCD is 8 and 4. You are left with 4x/8x which can be further simplified to 1/2

just multiply times any number in order to cancel out on of the denominators in these on u can multiply the top times 2 that would cancel the 2 because 2/2 is one and have an 8 in the bottom because 4 times 2 is 8 therefore simplifyin to x/8

second one multiply top and bottom times 4 that will cancel the four on the bottom and give you (4x/8)/X then multiply top and bottom times 8. that will cancel the 8 on top can give you 4x/8x. x cancels and 4/8 simplifys to 1/2

a) verify out the numerator and observe that 5-x = -(x-5) so Numerator: (4 over 5-x) + (5 over x - 5) = (-4 over x - 5) + (5 over x - 5) = a million over x - 5 there isn't something smart to do with the denominator: (2 over x) + (3 over x - 5) = [2(x-5) over x(x-5)] + [3(x) over x(x-5)] = 5x -10 over x(x-5) we've (a million over x - 5) / (5x -10 over x(x-5)) =(a million over x - 5) × (x(x-5) over 5x -10) The x - 5 cancels out = (a million) × (x over 5x-10) = (x over 5x -10) you should ingredient it as: =(x over 5(x - 2)) that's the respond you have! b) in case you write this out, you will discover that as quickly as you combine fractions to get (a/b) / (c/d) then b and d would be the comparable: x(x-a million) so we'd have (a/b) × (d/c) = a/c. the precise area of the numerator is: (x + 2)(x - a million) - 2x the precise area of the denominator is: (x + a million)(x - a million) + x(x + a million) The fraction simplifies to: [(x + 2)(x - a million) - 2x] over [(x + a million)(x - a million) + x(x + a million)] = (x² - x - 2) over (2x² + x - a million) = (x + a million)(x - 2) over (x + a million)(2x - a million) = (x - 2) over (2x - a million)

(x/2)/4 = (x/2)*(1/4)= (x/8)

(x/8)/(x/4)= (x/8)*(4/x)=(1/2)

(x/2)/4=(x/2)/(4/1)
flip (4/1) to make it (1/4)
the equation is now (x/2)*(1/4)
use common factors (x/2)=(x/1) and (1/4)=(1/2)
multiply through answer: (x/2)

flip (x/4) to (4/x)
the equation now reads (x/8)*(4/x)
use common factors (x/8)=(x/2) and (4/x)=(1/x)
the x's cancel out and are replaced with 1
the problem now reads (1/2)*(1/1)
multiply through answer: (1/2)
