Hi Vinay,
That is the culture being followed in foreign countries.

It is just to bring in a sense of uniformity, ease the pressure, creating friendliness among all the employees.

What will happen in a Govt office? Any junior employee will be always calling his superior by "Sir", there will be sense of fear in work.

In order to avoid that and make work and the environment more friendly this is being carried by MNC's all across the world.

That is the work culture in many countries abroad. The boss is not the boss but a colleague and it bridges the gap between junior and senior. Every employee in a company has a role and whatever it may be it is important for the overall functioning of the company. It's all about team work and mutual respect. I've worked in multinationals and love the work environment. I've also seen that people who are used to be called 'Sir, Sir' all the time don't fit in easily in a MNC.

For Indians it is very delicate to call their seniors by their name. It is almost a sin. For western world, there is no such stigma. MNCs are American based. Whereas the Britishers had influenced Indans to use the titles as Sir, madam, respected/ esteemed etc.

Mostly in north India, people call their seniors also by name, but adding 'ji' as a mark of respect.

In short, this is American culture and what you are expecting is the British culture

Just to create a culture for sense of belonging for each employee. This way the feeling of team is nurtured and the subordinates are also mutually respected. They feel free and associated to each other on work platform. The sense of belonging in the employee helps in optimising his/her performance and ultimate benefit to the organization.
