am wondering whether i had it b4 marrying him , how come he has not got it from me. i have been faithful to him ever since we met. He has admitted on several occasions that he has had extra marrital affairs and never used condoms. I have survived three operations including the one where my uterus was removed. My daughter is now almost 10 years. she has been sick but is still fine. he is willing to continue our marriage but will not use condoms for sex. I dont want him to catch the virus because he must live longer for our children . can someone give me some advice or any readings on such cases.

HIV, can live in your system for 15 years and then just activate. If you are HIV positive and husband still wants unprotected sex, and he has still not become positive, it is possibe, and i have an hiv brother, so I know what I am saying, that he has the gean in his system which the cells in his body doesn't have a tail on the gean and if not he will never become hiv positive because it attaches to the normal cell but on the tail of the cell, if he doesn't have the tail on his cells then its possible that it is immune to the hiv virus. But he has to go to the dr and get tested to see if he is immune to it or if its something else. Its possible, but get him to get tested and find out and then put your stresses to rest. You child being hiv positive baffles me unless you were hiv positive when the child was born. Test and more test, take care Heather

I always heard that it's easier for a women get contract something from a guy than it is for a guy to catch something from a girl. I'm going to assume it's because of the size of the "openings". But, honestly, your husband could have it and not be showing signs yet. You NEED to talk to him and make him understand that the children NEED their father should something happen to you. If he's had extramarital affairs, i'd be worried that some other women may also be HIV pos and not know it, which is obviously very dangerous. You think you had it before you got married, is it possible you may have contracted this from him?????? I dont think you should leave it up to him whether or not you all stay married. He sounds like a dog. His actions may have cost you and your daughter your health. I pray that this all works out for you! God Bless you and your family.

I'm not going to get into some long drawn out answer about why or why not you should or should not do something.
This boils down to one or two things, (a) you got the virus prior to marriage, or (b) he picked up the virus and is not yet testing positive. Now if he picked up this virus, it means that he's not only an adulterer but he's also a pedophile. Not a plesant thought.
The solution to his protection is indeed a condom. Simply tell him "no glove, no love." Remember, it's YOUR vagina.

God bless u. I hope that you live a long time. Your husband should use protection. You should be retested. Also, how did you get it? Did you get tainted blood? Any one of your ex lovers ill? Do the know it?

Please live a healthy lifestyle and get the best medication you can

This sounds like a question for Love Line. 1-800-LOVE-191

I don't honestly know the answer to how likely it is to transmit the disease through unprotected heterosexual sex. I'm sorry for your daughter, and I wish you both luck.

he MAY be one of those few who cant get the virus(1% in US)...but thats a slim chance...so he should NOT risk it; for the sake of your child, one never knows what may happen...just stay safe
