My husband tells me he loves me all the time. BUT my father never said it to my mother that I heard. I asked him about it once and he told me the following:
"I told her I loved her the day I married her and that if I ever changed my mind, I'd let her know."
They were married 54 years when he died.

I have heard this statement from a lot of my married friends which include myself. Spouse tends to forget to express such feelings once they're married. I once asked a male married colleague asked why he doesn't say "I love u" to his wife anymore. He said this "Is it pretty obvious that I love my wife, if not why I married her?" So rest assured, you are not alone. There many spouses who has not heard such lovely words from their husbands since the day they got married.

My hubby and I say it often. More out of habit then anything :( but my mom never would say it to us growing up. She did love us and we knew it but nvr would say it. Finaly i found out it was because she was afraid if she said it she would lose us. Her parents were both taken from her when she was young and that was one of the things I guess followed her all through her life. She wouldnt say it to my dad either. Since then we teased her about it enough and told her that it was important to hear it and not just have to know it. Now we say I love you every time we talk.

I have to agree with the first answer my husband of 14 yrs does not say I love you every day
but makes up for it by kissing and hugging me several times a day and that's ok by me!
Sometimes actions speak louder than words!

"I love you" are three words that are very difficult to speak out...Imagine if your hubby keeps saying "I love you, I love you"...If thats really the case, then I think thats not true love at all..He just says that to make you happy.
Thus, I feel that those who keep their 3 words to themselves show more true love than those who keep saying it. These words must be from the bottom of the heart, and not expressing it every moment.
Yes, he may love you VERY much, but he don't show it by saying it. There are many various ways of expressions.
Well, just my sentiments. I rather have someone who loves me from the bottom of his heart, rather than one who keeps saying the same words over and over without meaning it. Sincere is the key word. =)

Showing one's love in a variety of ways, is also important.
If both are lacking, then I would be concerned.
