why do people call others "UGLY"?

im amazed because most of the time the ones who call others UGLy are usually ugly. i find it hard to judge ppl based on looks..any thoughts?

How can you call people ugly and in the very next sentence say it's hard for you to judge people based on looks? I think people who have been called ugly call others ugly because to them it is the most hurtful thing they could say. Many people with below average intelligence use stupid as their stock insult. Think about what insults you use might say about you.

As the saying goes,"beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." I assume the same is for the opposite. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I find it outrageous that someone would make that opinion known. People who have the nerve to call someone else ugly is only doing so to boost their own esteem to compensate for some shortcoming. Regardless of how they look, everyone have certain standards and idealize what they consider the best, in this context, looks. Concluding with a cliche, "you shouldn't judge a book by its cover." If you do, you'd be missing out on a LOT of great stories. Besides, I'm willing to bet most superficial people have never opened a book in their lives anyways. (:

Beauty and ugliness are the imagination of the mind. You may consider some body as beautiful whereas your friend will not judge in the same way. It is individual view and not a common view. So many people are enamored by the outer beauty forgetting that the so called beauty is not a lasting one. A beautiful face when affected by chicken pox or small pox becomes distorted to look at. Hello. I think based on your question that you are a good observer. I think that some people fail to realize the difference between ugly on the outside and ugly on the outside. My thought is what is ugly but a word created by man? To others this word means nothing. The thing to think of is if a person can rise above the word and think about who is saying it. I once made a phrase," It is not you that is beautiful, but the spirit that lives inside you."

A person could be very physically attracted by the standards set by others, but if they are not nice people or lack good character, then I don't care how attractive they might seem on the outside, they are ugly in my book because of their inside. Often times, those that others might not find attractive are very attractive in my eyes because I don't look at particular features, but rather the whole package - and that includes the inside.

Insecurity and the need to be prettier or more attractive, maybe. It also shows their "ugly" side of their personallity if they can't or aren't able to get along with other people. A truly beatiful person has a great attitude and sees people for who they are, not being model thin and fake on the inside.

I know, it is very sad.....they just call other ugly because they know that the unatttactive people will do much better in life.
