Has anyone else been made to look foolish by the shrink wrap around the 1.73 ounce Chewy Spree Candy?

Question

It refused to come off without the use of heavy scissors, and then it flew open and spilled half the candy. I'm 48 -- how's an eight year old supposed to open it?
What about the hard plastic that everything (shavers, portable CD players, just about any toy of value or anything in a department or hardware store) comes encased in these days? Major cuts, piercings and assorted gashes? There's no real answer to this, but sometimes it seems I'm surrounded by booby traps.
