Recently I have been studying more about the american government. So now my question is : Is it treason to give up citizenship of one country to become citizen of another. Also if America is allowing residents of the U.S. to fight in the war while the residents still have their nationality of origin is it considered treason to their country of origin? Sounds like treason to me...especially in this war where thousands of non citizens of the U.S. whom are fighting in this war, so is it treason against their country of origin since they are fighting in our militia if their country of origin is agains the war?

Citizens of other countries fighting for the US is only for the money since their allegiance is with their mother country. There is no treason because their country is not at war with the US.

Generally treason is acting to do harm to your own country or help another group hurt your country. Moving to another country and becoming a citizen for a better life is not treason. Mercenaries are fighting in Iraq. They are not representing their countries in this respect. They are representing the mercenary copanies they work for. Please don't think all Americans are like Bush. Things will be better for the world when his term is over.

No. The definition of treason in the US is written in the Constitution, and it deals with US citizens giving aid and comfort to enemies of the US. Thus, it is not possible for an alien to be guilty of treason against the US, as no allegiance is owed. This does not, however, preclude prosecution for crimes against the US or its citizens from participating in an unauthorized militia.

no - treason is acting against a country or their interests ( in time of war?)

Bush for example would actually help the USA if he gave up his citizenship. Let's help him help us all.
