What is the easiest way to prepare an incredibly dilute solution of lead ions in water? Such that a machiene with the ability to detect lead down to a 1 X 10to the -14 molar. I need all the help I can get. Thanks in advance.

"impossible" is a relative word in this case, because scientists are always coming up with machines with even more sensitivity each time.

Preparing a dilute Lead solution of course, requires using a soluble Lead substance such as a nitrate. And to make one up, there are 2 ways to do it. Either, have the biggest container you can possibly make to hold the solution Or, come up with the most sensitive weighing apparatus that can weigh to the picogram level.

Or, just place 1 microgram or the smallest you can weigh of Lead Nitrate in the biggest Swimming Pool you can find, mix it thoroughly and sample.
