What age?

first? I can't stand San Antonio - it is trashy..

You can try Austin - fun for teenage to older, Dallas - best for shopping very Urban, Port Aransas - beach or even parts of Houston depending on what you are wanting to do.

San Antonio and New Braunfels, TX

... in SA you have the river walk with all of the diverse pubs/shops/rest. and toursits traps as any large metro area has ... on the other hand, there's New Braunfels that has a smaller attitude in the air, the tubing down the Comal River and a lot of people go there to beat the heat of south Texas during the summer months. And there is the water park, and lets not forget Canyon Lake. Which btw are all in the same general area. You'll need a rental car to get around, and fuel isn't that bad .. only $2.39 a gallon = about 3 1/2 liters, it may go up by the summer months .. the supply and demand attitude.

I would say Austin is the most eclectic and easy to get around because it's small. It has the most diverse group of people and there's plenty of cool, inexpensive or even free things to do. I would highly recommend these things to do...

1. Go to Zilker Park and maybe go swimming in Barton Springs or take a walk around town lake and the Botanical Gardens
2. If you're 21, I would try 6th street. There's several bars and music spots.
3. Congress Avenue bridge around dusk. The bats are an infamous sight here.
4. Mount Bonnell.
5. Esther's Follies is a HILARIOUS comedy/ magic/ variety act. Very Austin,
6. Tour the capitol building.
7. Tour the UT tower
8. Shopping on the Drag (Guadalupe)
9. Hippie Hollow is a nudist beach... haven't been myself, but I hear it's fun. There are people of ALL ages that go there, so be forewarned.

ugh San Antonio. No thanks

Austin. College town. drinking and partying on 6th street or 4th street (for the classier, older student crowd). live music. diverse. zilker park. mount bonnell. lake austin. lake travis. congress bridge. the capitol building. the Domain (new shopping mall). Barton Creek Mall. The drag. UT Library. The Blanton (art museum) or Wally Workman Gallery. The Oasis (restaurant with water view). Esther's Follies.

Ok but one warning: it's way hot in the summer. So if you can't handle the heat, I would go somewhere more beachy where you can go to the water at all hours.

If you want somewhere load and crazy, go with austin! or maybe even Dallas!

If you want a nice quite with hot chicks come down to South padre Island! It's also close to the mexican border and that's always fun!

You won't get bored wherever you go!

Austin is a more college oriented town so you might "fit in" better there.
