Before they go to work, before they eat, before they cook. What is the point in this? It does not symbolize love, instead it symbolizes lust. Lust is not what makes a relationship last.

It's a tradition to kiss before doing anything else, and a kiss symbolizes a bond and lust, and liking, and love. A kiss always means something, and a kiss will tell you if you really want to go foward in a relationship. If you get carried away and do something, the other person will think you a total trip. If you get carried away, the partner won't think you are in it for love, they'll think you're in it for playing. * cough*

It's called affection and showing it keeps love alive.

Kissing is not about lust all of the time. I kiss my children, my mother, some of my friends and gosh, even my dogs! I certainly don't lust after them.

I love my husband and if I want to kiss him, you can bet your bottom dollar I will....

You just never know when it's going to be the last time you see the ones you love....

I think it is a symbol of love, It could also be a symbol of habit. I would like to think of each kiss as a morsel of the treat I will get at the end of the day!

It is a sign of affection. A simple, quick symbolic gesture of "hey, i love the hell out of you". No, it is not necessary and some people do it to the point that makes me nauseous. However, it is also comforting, familiar and exclusive to your partner, what can be wrong with that?
I smell a cynic here.

a kiss is not always lust. I kiss my dog's ears and it's not lust-hehe. A kiss is just a quick connection sometimes like a pat on the rump.

Lust can lead to love. But it shows that they care about the other person. And it can be love.

Interesting. Well, I can't say anything because I ain't married. But when my Lady feeds me at her house, I kiss her and thank her. A kiss for this shows appreciation for feeding me.

But in your case, depends how he/she is being kissed and what's behind it. Peace! Hey, you'll never know whether you're coming home after work, if you know what I mean.

Are you thinking of a specific couple?

I think in most cases, it just symbolizes affection, but, of course, situations vary.
