Your primary hard disk is your master... Whats the issue making you think you need to do this?

On your IDE channels (Two grey strips of wires in your PC called Primary and Secondary), On each there are two connectors one called master and the other is called slave.

Then on your hard drive there is a jumper setting that allows you to set your hard drive to be a master or a slave or cable select, (for the IDE cable connections, if you have more then one hard drive)..

Hard drive set to Master, (The one thats in control) This one boots your pc. It should be set on the primary IDE on the master connector.

Slave, The one that is there just to hold information. If you have more then one hard drive the jumper should be set to the SL (slave) or CS (cable select) setting,

if its ATA then no need for that, just connect another one without jumper . and if its SATA then change its connecting port to motherboard (fix it at slot 1) ............ and check the bios it will show the result
