The last few weeks my baby has stopped breast feeding from my wife and the thing is she still breast feeds from my girlfriend. You might ask why my girlfriend is breast feeding my baby? Well it's because my wife had to go to Europe for a few weeks last month and while she was gone she began to nurse her. Anyways now the baby and my girlfriend are attached to each other. I really don't know what to do? My girlfriend has been coming over lately just to be with the baby when my wife is not home. How can I break this up before it gets worse?

First of all, I want to say that it's so awesome that you have someone that was willing to wet nurse your baby for you, I hope that you appreciate what this friend has done for you and let them know how special they are to your family! Formula can reek havoc on the digestive system of exclusively breastfed babies, and I think it's very forward thinking of you to allow this. (Too many people that have a problem with this don't realize that it was something that was done a lot before formula was ever invented.)

Is your wife experiencing any kind of drop in her milk supply? Perhaps your wife is and that's the reason your baby isn't wanting to nurse from her. Attachment is a factor in breastfeeding, but my daughter has tried to nurse off of other people when she was hungry enough (including my MIL, talk about a shock, lol.) Depending on how old your baby is, your wife can try something to regain that attachment with the baby (such as sleeping with baby at night, wearing baby in a carrier, etc.) It's important not to have your friend completely out of the picture during this time, if your baby has developed an attachment to this woman, I think it would do more harm than good to take that away.

First off, don't let your girlfriend breast feed the baby anymore. Secondly who are you to take another woman's baby away from her that way? Why did you have a baby with your wife if this is how you plan on treating her?
You are asking how to break it off? Seriously, dump the GF or leave your wife and child.

Well my suggestion is that you explain to your girlfriend the current situation, and make her understand that she needs to quit nursing the baby, and make less frequent visits. I have read in a newspaper article, that the baby recognizes its mother, by scent. So make sure that the baby doesn't think that your girlfriend is its mom.
If your baby is not drinking breast milk from your wife, try bottle feeding, it may work... Also make sure that your wife and your baby keeps in contact with themselves for a longer time...

Ok, so your wife who was breast feeding left to Europe without the baby and didn't leave expressed milk for the child. At the same time as you are married you are dating another woman who has recently given birth or is still breast feeding. (Is your girlfriend's child yours as well?)

So your lactating girlfriend nursed the child of your wife and now the child doesn't want to feed with his/her mother any longer who is back from Europe.

And your girlfriend comes to your house to spend time with the child when your wife is not home....

Lack of proper breastfeeding is not your major dilemma here. Apparently fidelity and breeding issues need to be solved first.

Your wife can express milk for the child, which is much better as milk changes with the child's development. I have no doubt that the child is much more attached to the biological mother who has nursed longer.

Get your girlfriend's breast out of the mouth of a child which isn't hers and back into her own babe's mouth.

Move out of your house so your wife doesn't have to deal with your cheating *** and has time to re-connect with the child she gave birth too.

However, breast milk from any human to a human baby is MUCH better than commercial formula. It is not dangerous for another person to nurse a baby nor is it uncommon anywhere except pretty much white north american - a population greatly detached from nature and clueless about even their own bodies.

If you are serious and you've just presented this horribly, consult a lactation consultant or your wife can express and body feed that way.

oh my god? did you really let someone else breast feed your baby, it's not safe, and if it is , each mother has a different milk taste, even the same mother her milk changes by the food she eats, how old is your baby? because baby's are attached with their mom's smell, so let her lend your wife some of her clothes , try this trick..if not I think you should stick to her mom's milk, she will be hungry and she will have to take it, if it didn't work consult your pediatrician, you may need to change it to milk formula...good luck.

Wait, is it just your friend that is a girl or a girlfriend as in dating? well none of my business but this is what I would do.
You should use baby formula. It helps. That's all I can suggest. Don't let someone else breastfeed the baby, it can mess up the other woman's nipple and may not be good for the baby, because of blood types or something like that
I hope I helped

I sense this is a load of BS. Was your girlfriend pregnant at the same time your wife was? How was she producing any milk? I was pretty sure the wet nurse phase in society went out the door in the middle ages.

To the people actually answering, ARE YOU DUMB.....

This is trash... fake, phony, troll stuff...

To the person saying its so wonderful letting a wet nurse nurse his baby... Umm? It is a GIRLFRIEND, NOT a wetnurse, besides for the fact that formula is better for a baby then some other womens breast milk... Yuck...

You need to stop this. Breastfeeding a maternal bond between mother and baby. You should have never allowed this to happen. I hope ur gf has been tested. Your sick.
