My idea, without giving it away obviously, is some thing that a consumer might use on a daily basis, or just have on hand for that "unexpected" special occasion. Having this gadget on hand could,"save your life" so to speak, if used in certain situations. This gadget will definitely catch the eye of the consumer and sell very easily. . People will take your idea as their own if not careful. Most curious as to the manufacturing and mass production to marketing/selling . Also need pro's and cons on selling via internet vs. putting on a novelty shop shelf.

Get a patent, first. Then start pitching.

#1, patton the idea. Find out how @ the library. The trick to exploring the how & the what of manufacturing of the prod. is to not get ripped off by whomever you share it with. You can have them sign a disclaimer before gaining their advice, promising not to use or pass the info. on. Even this is frought with iffy's.
Whatever you do, don't sit on this: you could end up like my dad, who thought,"Hummm. What if one welded metal around a hotplate, attached a handle and an electric cord? Then you could fry directly with the pan standing alone."

In most states, you can file a Poor Man's Patent. Contact the Better Business Bureau in your area. I am sure you can google it for your state and get the name and address of an appropriate department. Good luck!

My brother is also trying to get a game patented. Hard work and dedication pays off!

Of course, you can always try to Fill My American Dream, featured on ABC. Go to abc.com and find the link to enter the contest.

grab a patent and then go to a new product development agency. They will probably screw you over, but it is better than going bankrupt for failing to market properly.
