I've heard from lots of people that it's great, but I've also heard from some that it's horrible! It's rather costly and before I get in to spending that sort of $ I'd like to hear some opionions here...

I am in the "it's horrible" camp.

It is costly, and contains an ingredient called bismuth oxychloride which can be an irritant to skin (contrary to their claims) and cause itching. It also contains a lot of mica, which means it's shiny on your skin, looking anything but "natural."

The powder can also be drying if you have normal or dry skin, and if you have oily skin it tends to clump. It will also clump around any dry or flaky patches (I didn't know I had them until using this stuff!) magnifying them by 10. It also doesn't cover redness or dark circles very well at all. Watch the application videos on Sephora's website...you won't see much difference in the "before" and "after." Plus, it's messy.

On the positive side, a mineral powder foundation CAN work for someone with slightly oily skin without blemishes or redness. If you REALLY want to try a mineral powder foundation, I would recommend Everyday Minerals . This is about the only one without the bismuth oxychloride and they used to send free samples. It's also about half the price of Bare Minerals.

Well I have been using bare minerals for about 5 years and I love it. however, it does take a bit of getting used to.
people tend to use more then they really need to. And with mineral makeup..less is better.
Some cannot wear bare minerals because it contains bismuth and titanium dioxide and it makes their skin itch. Just because a product is touted as 'all natural with no preservatives" Doesnt mean its good for you and doesnt make you break out. Everyones skin is different.
However, it is great for my skin and I have no problems with it what so ever. Everyday Minerals I hear is another great product and they will give you up to 5 samples all you pay is for the shipping. which is like around 4 bucks.

i've got under no circumstances used bare Minerals, yet i've got used Sheer cover...yet another mineral makeup. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the insurance, I enjoyed the way it did not appear like i replaced into donning a large style of makeup, yet I had to end donning it, because of the fact it made me ruin out! possibly that's the minerals, i don't comprehend.

I just bought some and honestly I am not crazy about it. If you have really nice skin that does not need alot of cover it might work well for you. Also if you do not have real dry skin it might work well, it settles into the cracks under my eyes and does not look so good. If you are young it may work well. The commercial is misleading, it does not cover acne, rosacea and undereye circles well at all! If you live near a large mall there might be a store there where they can let you try it on first.

I love Bare Minerals make-up. It doesn't make my skin break out like other foundations and concealers. However, I like to only use their concealer as my powder foundation and add a layer of mineral veil to control my shine. My skin looks great afterwards, it doesn't take long to apply at all, and it lasts a long time. I didn't like their sparkly eyeshadow, however. It ended up traveling all over my face. If you try the foundation or concealer, I would recomend buying the kabuki brush. Without it, my make-up doesn't get applied quite right.

well everyone has a different skin type, so what works well for others may not be favorable to someone else.. However, among my clients it is very popular, and it takes only 3-5 mins to put on.. I recommend that you have them show you how to correctly put it on first before buying it.. the DVD can get a little too in detail.
I personally like it. it's quick. natural. & easy to put on.

I love it! There is a knack to applying it, though, and it took me a bit to get it. I was ready to send it back, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It looks and feels so natural, but covers well. Plus, my skin has never looked better. I don't use it under my eyes as concealer, though, it looks too dry--I use regular concealer there. I would say, those who say it looks horrible haven't mastered the application.
