i have a hp pavilion laptop and i i have the modem/router at home allowing me to be able to get the internet and wireless at home butwhen i'm at work i can't seem to get on the internet. i was thinking about buying a wireless card but i wasn't sure whether or not this would work and allow me to access the internet at work. my question is can someone please tell me what's the point of having an wireless card or adapter and which one i would need to buy because there are many and if i bought this would i need to buy anything this else with it.
Note: I only want the wireless card for when i'm at work because i just want to be able to access the internet and stuff. in other words i want a wireless card easy to use, for specific use away from home. Serious inquiries only!!!!!!!!!!

If you have wireless access at home you already have a wireless card installed. Your workplace would need a wireless router for their internet access for you to be able to use it at work. Another option is to subscribe to wireless service if it is available in your area.

Wireless is just a possible medium to use, unfortunately wireless happens to be the kind of thing that can have many probable point-of-failure. That applies to almost any product out the market.

This is best answered by the network administrator/the guy in charge of keeping the network running in your workplace. Only this guy can give you specific answer and help.

GO IN FOR A DLINK OR BELKINS WIRELESS ADAPTER
ALSO YOUR OFFICE SHOULD HAVE A WIRELESS ROUTER OR ACCESS POINT TO ENABLE YOU TO USE THIS WIRELESS ADAPTOR .
THESE ADAPTORS PROVIDE YOU RANGE OF 150 M
HOWEVER CONFIGURING THEM IS A REAL HEADACHE.
