Editors or publishers make it easier to put a book on the right "shelf."
Any Suggestions? Recomendations?

Assuming your autobiography is actually interesting and not the typical myspace.com drivel, you would need to go through the process like any other writer. You need to find an agent if you intend to submit your work to the large publishing houses. There is no "magic bullet" to getting a bestseller. For every Harry Potter, there are a thousand books that you have probably never heard of.

And the fact is, you need to be honest with yourself. Would YOU read about you? Have you really done anything that interesting that requires a book? We all love to think we are so wonderul and unique, but the reality of life is that most of us are important to only a small group of people, and we aren't that much different from everyone else. Unless you can point to something truely "unique" about your life experiences, chances of finding a publisher, let alone having a bestseller, are slim.

It fully depends on what your autobiography is about. It would have to be something rather exciting, and you may need to fictionalize some of it, if you aren't well-known. Generally, autobiographies do not have a long if any shelf-life in the publishing industry unless you're someone of great importance, or popularity. I'm not an editor or a publisher. I'm a writer that's just studied the area of publishing for a long, long time, and I really can't venture to answer this question without knowing more information about the book.
I'm sorry.

I think the most important thing for an autobiography to be is to be about a well-know figure that people have heard about or at the very least someone with an extraordinary story to tell that no one has heard/done before. Also it needs to be approachable in language

It's all forensic murder investigations these days. And have a good first line: it's the only one they read.

Historical fiction is also big: take a genuinely interesting person from history, then write a book about their butler/maid.

Anything about a Chinese person overcoming adversity is also publishing gold.

Live long enough to have an autobiography that actually involves some significant activity or scandal.
