Yes. Every woman is different. It's not a complete cover or closed off area. It's sort of like extra tissue partially covering the entrance to the vagina.
Horseback riding, falling off of a bicycle, sport or trauma can cause a 'tear' in women.
If it's in a small child or adolescent, investigation of any form of sexual abuse or sexual activity would be a primary concern. A Dr's exam and counselor would be in order.

Yes. It can break due to sports, an accident, using a tampon, even stretching. The flexibility of hymen varies a lot. Because of this, even having intercourse might not break it - it might just widen out.
A hymen breaking does not always cause pain, either. Stretching hymen (eg. with one's fingers, using tampons) might make it so flexible and elastic that it doesn't break with pain sensation during first intercourse.

Yes it can break if someone puts an object inside of the vagina such as a blunt object, fingers,. etc.
But if you do not have sexual intercourse, the God intended way (man and woman) then no it cannot break that way.
Tampons do not break the hymen. They break a small portion of skin inside that will cause a little bit of bleeding at first, but does not touch the hymen.

Yes it is true. I'm a 35 year old virgin and had my hymen broken at age 18 when I had my first pelvic exam and pap smear because the dr used a regular sized instrument called a speculum for that exam. Some girls can have their hymen break because of a fall as well.

Absolutley. The hymen is just a thin membrane of skin. It can be broken if you use a tampon that is too large for your vagina or miss the peddle on your bike and straddle the bar. Either way it's always painful and you'll bleed a bit when it happens.

Yes this happens often especially if they are in sports or do a lot of rougher things like horseback riding.

some women will discover that their hymen broke years ago when they were children. rough, repetitive play may cause it -horseback riding, ATV rides, etc.
