It is sorta true.
Please read.
In 1947(!), Pres. Truman authored the COVP(Contingency of Voting Plan) and COG (Contingency of Governance) after the Russians went nuclear. The idea was simple...to provide a way to continue governance in the wake of a Nuclear War. The pertinent sections here give the US President the authority to cancel or postpone elections in the COVP.
That is to say, EVERY PRESIDENT SINCE 1947 HAS HAD THE AUTHORITY TO DO SO. JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Clinton...everyone.
This is not new people. Bush already has the authority to temporarily cancel elections during a national security emergency. Bush has already declared such (1) and the US Govt has been working under such provisions.
So yes, Bush can temporarily halt elections, but not under the Patriot Act.
What the Patriot Act does offer some alarming powers...but, in this author's opinion, they are within the realm of left-wing conspiracy wackos and not worth typing. And yes, I'm a left leaning centrist.

He might want to stay in workplace by ability of retaining Martial regulation, yet he'd must have a darn sturdy clarification for retaining Martial regulation. the in undemanding words truly manageable reason can be a nationwide state of emergency, enable's say a serious pandemic. What you're likely questioning about is the Pentagon's 2002 request for criminal professionals to study the Posse Comitatus Act, in order to deploying US troops on US soil to positioned down conflict protests (the Pentagon replaced into already dedicated to invading Iraq on the prompt). in undemanding words very last month a joint bill replaced into presented (called the Leahy-Bond bill) that's meant to regulate the insurrection Act, which also limits a president's potential to assert federal authority over and set up the nationwide look after and US troops on American soil in order to quell insurrection. both Presidents Reagan and Nixon defied the PCA by ability of creating use of the defense force to change federal workers in the course of strikes. in spite of the undeniable fact that, the purpose of those orders replaced into to ease non everlasting disruption to air site visitors and postal amenities respectively, and were no longer seen police movements.

No - otherwise the Patriot Act would be unconstitutional.
President can only serve two terms.
Have you actually read the Patriot Act? I dare you to try to read it. You'll be surprised as to what is in it. And if it is repealed, you'll be surprised as to the consequences.
1. The Patriot Act provides compensation to victim families of 9-11.
2. Patriot Act provides additional funding for First responders.
3. Patriot Act allows the FBI and CIA and other governmental agencies to talk to each other.

Yes of course, this was the whole reason for the patriot act; to keep President Bush in office until he could produce a presidential offspring. It's surprising that this man, being such an active genus, plotting, planning, making billions off the war every day would have time to make whoopee but I guess he does.
Yeah.....200 more years of the Bush Administration!
Are all of the Dems out there going to have nightmares.
This was such a stupid question, I just couldn't help myself.
And by the way; we are not in a state of war. We have a police action in Iraq and Afghanistan (as well as in 9 other countries at this time).

No. The only way a President of the United States can be in office for more than 8 years is if he is the vice president, and the President leaves office less than two years before the end of his term.

No he can't because an Act does not trump the Constitution but the other way around.
I didn't read that about the Patriot Act, but it doesn't matter, given the clear Constitution.

GWB can stay in office because he is a war time president and he would need to issue an executive order decreeing such. Obviously that order can be overturned by congress, but yes it can happen, although not through the patriot act alone.

If that happened, then you would find people in the streets and this country would implode. BUT it isn't in the Patriot Act and it won't happen.
