I don't believe so. All healthy animals display a rather universal drive to survive.
Birds crash into windows all the time too but the prevailing theory is that they are just confused.
As with any organism, animals get sick or stressed and exhibit behaviors not typical of healthy specimens. ( whales beaching)
How ever, if I were a vertebrate and yearned to sit in pudding drenched diapers...I would definitely commit suicide.

I don't about that particular bird, but I have known of very old or sick animals just lying down in front of traffic. Also, some species mate for life and will starve themsevles to death if their mate dies. Some birds will even fly straight into a tree or wall if they lose their mate.

Suicide as all of us comprehend that could be a human situation. whether some animals the two family individuals individuals & wild, have displayed indications of melancholy following the dying of a protracted time important different, even whether that could be a distinctive species to them. some flow off their nutrition, others even die themselves presently later on from unconnected motives. This leads me to have faith those animals purely gave up on existence. it fairly is the closest ingredient i will think of of interior the animal international.

Yes, animals can commit suicide. I heard once when I went to the zoo that the reason why they put owls and other animals in a special place where you cannot use the flash of your camera. If you use the flash of your camera to take a picture of an owl the owl will probably commit suicide. So again the answer is yes.

Many animals will give their life to save their masters. I would call that loyalty.
In reference to the bird, you should report it because of the bird flu virus. A special task force will investigate. Call your local cooperative extention of the Master Gardeners at the Univ.

have you ever had a deer run out in front of you? i think they just panic and animals tend to run back the way they come or they just freeze in the road. in the birds case it was just out searching for food or a mate.
