Could they let it slide if they get something big in return? Would it be similar to the Missouri comprimise negociated by Henrey Clay that averted the civil war for years? Maybe they could trade dropping the investigation of him for something like much improved enviromental protection? A big real serious effort to stop and fix global warming ASAP? Passing laws that actually quickly convert to Green Energy and achieve Energy Independence?, higher fuel efficiency standerds for planes, trains, big rigs, and cars and trucks? Species and Habit protection? A ban on the dirtiest technologies if replacible with cleaner? A law to phase out the sale of incandencent lightbulbs for new more efficient replacements? An honest real closed or open door debate in the full senate and house that actually finds the best possible solution that can be thought up for how to make the most possible out of Iraq and Afganistan and get out of there as gracefully, successfully and quickly as possible?

Would this allow both sides to gain something or at least one side gain something so the other wouldn't lose something? Republicans AND DEmocrats what do you all think?

ok well, at the very least something could be worked maybe behind closed doors that lets the republicans save face in exchange for something they should have agreed to in the first place that helps the enviroment and economy at the same time. Hows that sound?

There are some very real issues of concern in this Gonzales investigation.
- It is common for presidents to fire all the Justice department prosecutors at the beginning of a Presidency - they all, including Bush, do this once, no matter how many terms. This is the only group of firings to fall in the middle of a Presidency- it has never happened before.

The Patriot Act gave Bush the right to appoint replacements without Congressional approval- and one of the replacements is a political campaign worker pal of Carl Rove with NO judicial experience. This part of the act has therefore been abused and is being repealed.

Several of the fired attorneys were in the act of prosecuting Republican associates or had been pressured by current Republican members of Congress to prosecute Democrats before the election when no evidence of a prosecutable crime existed. So this is possible tampering with criminal prosecutions - which is a crime.

No, that is extra a demonstration of what's to return if the democrats take administration in 08. the present democrats in power in Congress & the Senate do not think of there is something incorrect with the backstabbing, under-the-table politics that have been so generic while they have been youthful & first working for place of work. so they have extra grimy politics to the vanguard yet over back. Plus in the event that they have been fairly doing their 'jobs', they does not have the backside approval score ever.

It could be but it shouldn't be, yet it seems to be so typical of the administration to only want to deal when they are caught doing something that they know is wrong yet they seem to pull it over the eyes of all concerned and the american people will still buy whatever they want to sell, because they are supposed to be moral upright people when the actions speak far louder than any words.

It is a great bargaining chip only if the Dems know how to play the game. If they knew how to, they would be all over Bush/Gonzales like the Republicans were on Bill/Monica.

More Democrat double standards.

This started as you might just be a liberal but moonbat (moonbatus barkingus) more accurately describes the species of person who wear tin foil hats and drinks Howard Dean’s special blend of Kool-Aid. So, here is the new and improved version:

If you sat idly by while Bill Clinton fired 93 prosecutors for purely political reasons but now insist that George Bush fire his Attorney General for firing 8 prosecutors for substandard performance, you might just be a moonbat.
If you believe that Hillary Clinton is right when she says there is a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy because a few Republicans were convicted for messing with elections but never mention the huge number of Democrats who have been involved in or convicted of the same, you might just be a moonbat.
If you demand impeachment because the War on Terror in Iraq, though authorized by Congress, is illegal and that the US needed UN approval for the action but have no problem with Bill Clinton bombing an aspirin factory without the approval of the UN or the Congress, you might just be a moonbat.
If you believe that we need universal health care run by the government and think it would be run beautifully but then criticize the military health care system for its woes and inefficiency, you might just be a moonbat.
If you believe that General Pace’s opinions about homosexuals should be kept to himself but believe that Representative Warner should be applauded for his opinions on homosexuality, you might just be a moonbat.
If you believe that George Bush’s swagger and Texas demeanor are phony but that Hillary Clinton using a bad Southern accent is genuine, you might just be a moonbat.
If you think starting a fight with with those who disagree with your anti war protest makes perfectly good sense, you might just be a moonbat.
If you think that using the word ****** in reference to John Edwards is punishable by death but that comparing Bush to Hitler is perfectly OK, you might just be a moonbat.

It would be nice to think that a trade for clean air could be worked out, but somehow don't see that in the offing.

No smoke, no fire, just some Dem created slight of hand. I wish they would put as much effort into trying to help this country as they do trying to ruin it.

it's the media... and I don't think anything can be done... because PEOPLE WATCH IT...

the ONLY way to get them to stop... is if you come up with something even more dramatic so that people will watch it instead...

they talked about the Clinton scandal for like 2 years... have fun with this one...
