It has a higher chance of working if the neck of your womb is already softening and preparing for labour.

Remember, if your baby is not ready, they will not make an appearance until they are, so use this quiet time to get as much rest as possible before your baby arrives - you will need as much energy as possible for the labour, and for caring for your baby afterwards

I had it done at 41 weeks with my first son (hurt soooo much!) and at 40 weeks with my second (not as painful this time). It didn't really do anything either time. I was 11 days overdue with #1 and 7 days overdue with #2. It's worth the shot and just might push you into labor, however I wouldn't hold my breath! The baby will come when he or she is ready. As long as there is no distress for the baby, just relax and wait for the birth to happen. Your body will know what to do, with or without the membrane sweep.

On another note - if anyone suggests drinking castor oil and orange juice to induce labor - don't do it!!!! I threw up for 2 days before my son was born. Not fun. Seriously, relaxing and not stressing about how "late" you are is the best route to go!

My partner recieved 3 sweeps in total and still that never encouraged the little blighter out. You have to be patient he/she will make their grand appearance when they are ready. My partner eventually gave birth 40weeks plus 11.
Get ready for your nipples to be sucked red raw and get plenty of air fresher to elimiante those dirty nappy smells.
All the best in motherhood and hope you and baby are fine.

Yes it does work and it can take up to 24 to 48 hours to bring labour on. Try not to worry and just go with the flow. xx

It depends if your body & baby is ready,if not then I'm sorry to say but all it will proably do is causing some cramping & some slight spotting.

If it is going to work, it works within 48 hours.
