Who exactly runs the development for Firefox? that is, which company, or is completely open source? I prefer it over ms explorer for sure.

firefox is made by the mozilla foundation which is a 501c3 non profit tax exempt organization. they make money by people using the google search in the toolbar. it gives them a few cents each time, and they have reported earnings of over $50million in a year. they also collect donations.
