By danger, I am mean is he at risk for getting caught or something like that. Are there are guaranteed ways for my friend to not get caught.

As far as using torrents go there are many people using them to download videos, music and other files online at the moment. No one is really being "caught" because of the sheer amount of users sharing these files. As far as being in "Danger" there is always a risk when you attempt to download or share any Licensed or Copyrighted material on the net for free without consent of the owner. The best thing for your "Friend" to do is to either research to see if this music is copyrighted, and if so find a legal site that offers the music for a usually reasonable price, or just buy the CD's, and give these artists some of the support they deserve already.

I think free torrent downloading is technically illegal, but with the amount of people doing it, and the FBI not wanting to waste their time, I wouldnt worry about it.
