not bother to pick a best answer? Just curious?

I never understood it...especially the ones that plead for HELP. People who answer sometimes give long, thoughtful answers and find themselves ignored. It's rude. If I ask a question I pick an answer and give a Thumbs Up for the effort for everyone who answered.
Another thing. There must be 37,000 people on here...Oprah got that many answers...and to get Best Answer by 1 or 2 votes is pretty discouraging. It's a real and rare feat to get picked by the Asker.

Thanx for asking THAT question. If I asked it, it wouldn't have the same impact as your asking it.

Yeah that annoys me too, especially when I know I have given them a really good & long answer!

When the best answer gets chosen by the voters, mine gets very rarely picked because people don't usually like long answers, do you agree?

But to get back to your question, I think it might be due to either laziness or forgetfulness.

What a shame though, right?

Oh well.

What can be done about it?

Consider it a good thing you can always go vote for your own answer and you get 1 point for voting and 10 if it is the only one voted as best answer! So as long as you are the winning vote you just made 11 points!

They lose interest? I feel bad if I leave a question without an picking a winner, but sometimes there are no good answers or too many good ones!

on an identical time as i does not call myself a average, i'm proud to work out somebody else blasting human beings for their partisanship. each little thing I come to YA with the hopes of seeing some smart communicate approximately substantial subject concerns I easily tend to be relatively disillusioned via human beings very reminiscent of those you point out. shop your head up. There are smart human beings on YA. Do what I do, and on the instant upload them on your contacts once you come across them, because of the fact they could be needles in a haystack on YA.

only once did i intentionally not answer a question, & that was because i truely loved all the answers an felt that not one of them where the best but a few of them. the other time's it happened (by the way so sorry to any one who might of answered it !) i was unable to answer do to a virus on my computer...whiched really sucked but come for the other end of that i really hate that myself so i try never to do it.

I wish I knew. Perhaps it just slips their mind although I have had e/mail reminders not to hit the "snooze button" .
I so enjoy answers and consider it my duty to pick a best reply.

That drives me CRAZY!!! ALL of my closed questions are resolved. The last one that really got to me was when a lady wrote me an email telling me that she totally agreed with me (she asked "Who do you hate" and I wrote "Child abusers"), and then she didn't pick a best answer and some lame person who voted for themselves got a best answer with "I LOVE EVERYONE". GRR...

Darned if I know. I pick the best answers, except for one time; it was a difficult decision; because there was no really good answer.

Because they couldn't decide on a best answer or they got busy in their life and forgot about the question.
