I think we as people can choose to either take love for granted or to cherish it. I do not buy into the Freudian belief that society, or ones parents/upbringing make our decisions for us on some kind of subconcious level. At some point in peoples lives, we take responsibility for our own actions.

I had to ponder this question for a while. We all do take it for granted but I can't seem to find the reason why. Maybe because we assume it will always be there. You don't know what you have until it is gone!

I think we as a society have let the figures of failed marriages blind us as to why we get married to begin with . Many of us figure oh well 50% of marriages fail no biggie if mine does too. That is truly sad . I think people actually forget what love is . While I have been divorced 12 yrs myself I havent stopped loving her . Even though she was the one who cheated She left me for someone else. Anyway its the few like yourself that have to keep the purity and importance of love alive.

For some, it is life ... they do not see what they have until they have lost it. Sometimes the partner is self-centered, and some love more than others, and on different levels/depths. I would imagine it is different for many ...
