i am kind of a music junkie folks... so i'd appreciate people with more obscure taste... i don't really like the current trends in popular music... my fave that rocked all the way recently was Butter 08... grand royal release in 96... peace

Not all of them are new bands.
Pain, Nothing Remains The Same.
Traveling Wilburys, albums 1, and 2. (1 cd).
The Raconteurs, Broken Boy Soldiers.
Jay-Z/Linkin Park, Collision Course, (Yeah this one is pretty mainstream).
The Tragically Hip, Phantom Power, (they are a big band in Canada).
Champion, Chill em All
and
Social Code, A Year At The Movies.

Alive Or Just Breathing- Killswitch Engage, and Peanut nothing to be embarrased about with the Simon and Garfunkel, I'm into metal an think that's a great album for quiet moments. Ok so the last time I heard it I was in nursing school observing in the OR and the surgeon picked it to do a hysterectomy to, but hey still a good album.

Well, the last album was Pharrel. It's pretty good all the way thru. But I do have strange taste and not really in today's music either. I also like the 10,000 Maniacs- MTV unplugged (the one that came out in late 90's). Yes, some contemporary folk is actually pretty good, really :).

I can't listen to a CD all the way through. The last time I did that was probably 5 years ago. I don't remember the name, but it was trance music.. Each of the songs were blended together, so basically it was almost as if it was an hour long song on 10 continuous tracks.

Yma Sumac's album "Mambo". She was a singer back in the 50s. Her music is really weird when you first listen, but after you get over it, you're really blown away by her voice and incredible vocal range (4 octaves!!) Oh yeah, and she was from Peru, so it's not in English. However, the music is so great that I really don't mind that I can't understand a word she's saying.

Brand New's "the devil and god are raging inside me" is one of the greatest albums ever made. It's basically all I've been listening to since November.
Jack's Mannequin's "Everything in Transit" is amazing, one of my favorites of all time.
Death Cab for Cutie's "Plans" is a good album.
They're not really obscure bands, but they're good nonetheless.

I have until recently due to the music download generation been one to buy an album and listen to the whole thing
my problem is that i get bored with the top 40 song that made me buy the album, because you hear it everywhere
for me that last album was by powderfinger and was titled internationalist

Jethro Tull's album "Songs from the Wood" is posotively hypnotic.
I also love the Decemberists, and all of their albums keep me trasfixed from start to finish, especially castaways and cutouts
I'd also like to second the person who said 10,000 Maniacs. They're awesome.
