How much does a taxi (cab) ride cost four adults to go from Kingston airport to Ochos Rios? (I am assuming it costs about the same to go the other way, from Ochos Rios to Kingston airport.) Does the cost depend on what time of the day/night it is? Is the cost any different on weekends/holidays compared to weekdays? How long does the ride take? What are other reliable and inexpensive modes of transport?

Taxi es travel in to Kingston is available,it can cost any ware from $250-350 for child to a 1,600.00 Jamaican dollars adult, and thats only one way, so that would be the asking price for 1 per's also,oh by the way that would be if you chartered a taxi, the only reason why Taxi es in Jamaica are not used on a regular basis by foreigners to the islands is because of the image which they get from the Media over seas, but regular prices range from less 900-1000 and more.
By the way that estimate is one way, considering the fact the J$ is at 67.00 to the US 1 D$ you can do the math, however if your not comfortable taking a local taxi ope rater you can always op for more accommodating transportation providers this of course will not come cheap, you can alsways try to bargain.

The hours of travel depends alot on traffic especially on Mandela High way,and oh no don't even think High way 2000 can help,as there has been time and time again a bottle neck at were the High way end on Mandela.
Cost will vary if its a holiday when compared to a normal working day Sundays too can be a bit more expensive as that day is very much set a side as a religious period.
other than that prices pretty much the same, may vary from cab to cab though as there is no set reghulation(however you can bargain) with teeth in it to keep person from charging something low high or what ever.
However time fram moves with traffic and mode of transportation, road 2-3 hours Air 30 minutes or so.

Kingston To Ocho Rios

If you are staying in Ocho Rios it's best to use the Montego Bay airport. It's closer and will be less of a headace.

First of all, do NOT take the bus. you'll have suitcase and it's just a head ache to deal with so many bag and the cramped bus and busses in Jamaica are not like the ones abroad. They are best used by the locals.

And as far as taxi rates, honestly, for you to charter a taxi it will mostly depend on who is the driver. The day or time doesn't affect the price. They will however charge you a flat fee and if it's too expensive you can bargain for just go to another driver. Try to pick the cleanest looking car that has Air conditioning. 4 adults and 1 driver can get very hot in Jamaica.

As far as price, don't worry too much about it because it will always be cheaper than any taxi you get in Jamaica.

Also, another poster said it take about 80 minutes to get to Ocho Rios. You will not get there that quickly, unless you're traveling at night or dawn there will be traffic and lots of single lane roads. It should however take you less than two hours to get there depending on where in Ocho Rios you are going.

The last time i travelled from Kingston to Ochi In a taxi JA$3000 and that was two years ago one way fare...It can take between two to three hours depending on the time of day, traffic, and the route the driver chooses...I would advise u to take a Juta taxi from the Airport because those are the transportation that are assigned to the airport in Kingston.

.If you take the regular bus it will run you about US$5 if you charted a taxi it will run you US$70 the ride on a bus will
take you about three hours on taxi about one hour and twenty minutes the bus ride is longer because they will stop to pick up passenger along the way,the cheapesrt way is by bus,alo you get to see more ans meet people,it is also safe travelling with the crowd, or you cluld charter and private car which you must be recommended by a trust worthy person.
