STi.. Subaru has a history of successful racing in this car, so all the good stuff can come from the factory - this way, you know it really works. The Evo was withdrawn from the WRC for bad performance and poor reliability. And the SRT-4 hasn't ever raced, as far as I know.

Always go with the proven product.

well, either the sti or evo.. If it's a daily driver, i would say sti. It's softer and much more relaxed with its 2.5liter...easier to put up with.
my evo has been a wonderful car and of the three it's by far the best for performance just it's really, really rough to drive day in and out..not to mention high strung and you have to be constant on maintinence if you put out high hp... But then you can't deny 4 wrc titles to it's name and the fact that in the united states this car is truer to the wrc regulations in staying with the 2 liter 4g63 than subaru's offering..
but subaru's the only one still in competition..
the srt4 won't hold up in the handling area to the awd cars.
but anything is possible and one of my freinds owned a acr srt-4 and it was a nice cheap performance car. supposedly these did see some form of off road competition at some time. i saw a documentary on pikes peak on the history channel mopar was racing on the annual hill climb.
But to be honest i like them all, exellent enthusiast cars!!
but i would most likely keep them stock.....

The SRT-4 has the most room for improvement.

The STi and EVO are pretty well tuned cars.

relies upon on the 300 and sixty 5 days you purchase...i might propose an '06 STI (purely because of the fact the seems might supplement the overall performance then, the '08 version is gruesome) The STI will beat the Evo and the SRT-4, that is lighter and likewise shifts smoother and likewise has stronger traction and working with.

EVO, the STI comes close, if you ever watch Top Gear on BBC or Mens Channel the stock evo beat some very expensive super cars around a road circuit.

What about an Audi s4, rs4, rs6 etc. The rs models might be a little too pricey, but an older s4 with the 2.7t could be modded pretty well with 10k.
