I had 512 Mb when I bought my pc in Jan., I just added another 512 Mb board last week, system properties shows 960 Mb of RAM. Shouldn't that be a total of 1024Mb? 1G- I don't get it. Then tonight I go to use my media player, and it tells me I don't have enough. I run disk cleanup regularly, I used defrag a few days ago. Is there something else I can try? How much RAM does a person need??

Its not talking about physical memory. You can add more virtual memory. This is what the mean. Right click My Computer, go to Properties, on the Advanced tab, in Performance, click Settings. Next, click on Advanced again. In Virtual Memory, click on Change. Next click on Custom Size and in the top box put 2048, and in the bottom box put 4096 and click set OK and you will have to restart your computer. If you were to have or add more hard drives you can set this for all drives. You select them at the top of the page where you set the first one. I have 10 drives and each has 4Gb. of virtual memory.

The discrepancy in ram is because your video card reduces or takes its ram off the top and it shows you whats remaining. Which means you have a 64Mb. video card, or that it is set to pull 64Mb. It might be higher but you will have to set that in the bios.

feels like you're starting to be a lot of solutions so enable me clarify some. some consumers are telling you to get a higher not straightforward stress. that's an ok idea yet no longer the optimal answer. the reason being is truly than your computer making use of memory (RAM), that's going to use the not straightforward disk as pretend RAM. that's what homestead windows refers to because the web page or change record. at the same time as there is no longer adequate memory (real RAM) on your equipment to apply, it writes information to the web page record and then to the not straightforward stress, then fetches it (reads it) at the same time as necessary. This sounds gradual correct? that's. it truly is why you want to bypass with more beneficial actual RAM on your gadget. Your DVDs will play smoother, your applications will run speedier, and also you'd be a lot happier with the performance of your gadget. the finest position to purchase RAM is from needed as they have a magnificent product finder to get you the most superb modules on your equipment.

This is a very common error message in WMP10 and was only able to locate one solution (very strange but works)

"try setting your system clock back to the month before this started happening. I saw this posted as a suggested fix and thought to myself "thats so completely silly". But lo and behold my problems started as of Jan 1st 2007. I set the clock back to Dec 2006, opened a DVD in WMP 11 and it played perfectly."
