is there any differences on the technology for cell phone in US with SE Asia phone? like different setting?
Is it okay if I bring my phone to US or it's better for me to buy in US?

It would be wiser to leave your sony at home. The reason is you would have to find a company that would activate it and if it from another telephone company they will not do it. Simple as that. Besides, if you are staying for a short time, then look up the place where you will be at and check out the pay as you go phone. If you are coming to Texas, check out the cricket and pocket cell phone companies. Cricket is also in other cities too. It is good for local use and UNLIMITED minutes and NO CONTRACT. So if you stay for a long time get this if available in your visit.

If you would really like to use it in the US, your best bet would be to try T-Mobile (their frequency should be compatible with the K800; not sure how many versions were made of the K800, though).

You could even get a pay as you go SIM card from T-Mobile to use in your phone. That will probably be your cheapest route.
